Spring Activities

With Easter this weekend and Spring break in full effect we need activities to keep the kiddos busy. Here are 2 fun Spring foodie activities that will keep the kids busy and satisfy your late night sweet tooth!!!

Chocolate Chip Baskets

  • 1 16 oz bag of chocolate chip cookies
  • 1 cup of white frosting
  • Green Food Coloring
  • 1/4 cup sweetened coconut shavings
  • Licorice cut into 3 inch pieces for basket handles

Total Time: Set aside 1 hour to prep & book these super cute Springtime baskets

Directions: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour 24 mini-muffin cups. Place one pre-cut cookie dough into each cup. Bake for 14-17 minutes. Remove from oven and set aside to cool. When the cookies are still warm add 1 toothpick to either side; these will hold the licorice “handle” in place. Now while you are waiting for the cookies to completely cool, blend the frosting & coconut shaving with the green food coloring. Check to see if the cookie muffins have completely cooled and if so start spooning the frosting on top after, remove the toothpicks and insert the licorice in the holes. Last, but not least fill the baskets with Jelly Beans and or mini cadbury eggs. Now time to show off your goodies and enjoy!

These are so much fun to make and just about everything can be done by the kids. Sit back, relax, and watch the kiddos have a blast!!

Rice Krispie Nests

These are super cute and just about the easiest twist on the OG rice krispie treats that we all know and love!!!

  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • 1 10 oz bag of marshmallows
  • 6 cups of rice krispies
  • Edible Grass  ( coconut shavings dyed green with food coloring)
  • Robins Egg Candies or Mini Cadbury Eggs

Total Time:

Melt the butter and mix in entire bag of marshmallows, slowly. Pour this over over your rice kripsies and mix thoroughly… sometimes this gets a little tiring for the kids so I will step in and completely mix it. After you have mixed it all together, spray the inside of the muffins pans and form your nests!!! This is the fun part, the kids love adding a spoonful of the mix and using their hands to form these adorable little “nests.” Once all the muffin pans are filled, let them cool, and start adding your toppers! You & the kiddos can customize them however you wish!

Now stop reading and start having fun!!! Send me the photos of your finished products – tweet, Instagram DM,or facebook messenger… I’d love to see them!
