Jojoba Oil // The Cure to SO Much

For those of you who don’t know about or haven’t used Jojoba oil as a direct application, this post is especially useful for you. Jojoba oil is one of the healthiest, most beneficial products that you can use for your skin (and hair!).

How it feels

It feels like many other oils out there, OILY. No really, it spreads far and a thin coat on the skin allows for approximately 7 minute dry time (based on 2 home tests completed on myself). It does feel a bit oily, but after that dry time, it is almost like it isn’t even there.

Where to buy

You can buy Jojoba oil at pretty much any natural grocery store, or online. A multitiude of Amazon brands and types are available 24/7, and if you’re a Prime member [like me] then you will be covering yourself in this enchanted oil in no time. Wait, don’t completely cover yourself in it. It is on the pricey side, which we will get to in a minute, but this oil goes a long way and resembles one of the oils that our body naturally produces, so overdoing it is a big no-no.

Jojoba to the Rescue (For Acne)

As explained, Jojoba oil closely resembles one of our bodies natural oils called Sebum. Sebum is the oil that you see and feel on your face whenever it is excessively oily. When you wash your face with soap and water, you are taking away a layer or two of Sebum, which tells your body to create more, filling your pores with excess oil that it doesn’t need which can turn into acne. Now, since Jojoba oil is so closely related to Sebum, after washing your face, you can apply some Jojoba oil to your hands and rub it into your face. This will tell your body not to create excess Sebum, and allow for the Jojoba to soak in. Just a thin layer will do, as I said earlier, you don’t want too much of either, or anything for that matter.

The Cost of Jojoba

Although it is one of the heavier priced oils on the market, it is priced fairly for the wonders it can give our skin. It is on Amazon right now, as I am writing this for $9.01 by the brand Now Solutions, which is one of the largest organic brands right now. That 4 oz bottle will take you a long way though.

Extra Benefits

  1. Use it for chapped lips, which will absorb the oil and begin the healing process much faster.
  2. Use it on extra dry/cracked hands and feet – Soak them in warm water first to get them soft enough to absorb the most they can.
  3. One of the best natural treatments for Eczema – a skin disorder that causes irritation, redness, and itchiness.
  4. Use it on your hair for pretty much everything – dandruff control, dry hair, give extra shine, and debatably helps with hair loss.
