How many of you use eye cream? Why? For anti-aging effects? Maybe to calm down those under eye bags & hide the fact that you haven’t slept since 2010. Or could it be that your suffer from dryness. Whatever your reasoning, make sure you are buying the right one for the job!
Our eyes begin showing age often before the rest of our skin. Many of us begin using anti-aging products after we see signs… why wait?! Start prepping your skin before you see those fine lines. OBVI if you are 15 years old you might want to hold off because you are just wasting money, but those of you in your early 20’s, get in the habit. The area surrounding your eyes has the thinnest + the most sensitive skin on your face. This is often why you notice fine lines, dryness, and sensitivity there first. So get yourself some eye cream with some anti-aging properties.
Hydration is Key
Keeping your skin hydrated is a great way to prevent early signs of aging. Your eye area does not have sebaceous glands so make sure to always moisturize around your eyes. Choosing the proper formula for your needs will make a HUGE difference. Do you know what your looking for? Here are a few ingredients you should make sure the product has depending on your needs.
- Vitamin C
Hydrate & plump:
- Hyaluronic acid
PRO TIP: Throw your eye cream in the fridge for a few minutes then apply. This will help decrease puffiness & swelling first thing in the am.
What To Avoid
The skin around your eyes can be easily irritated so there are several things I’d avoid:
- Stay away from products with heavy fragrences. The perfumes in these products can cause an irritation or even an allergic reaction.
- It’s always best to use products that come in pumps, rather than jars. If the product requires you to dip your hand in to apply the cream then you are making yourself more vulnerable to creating bacteria in the jars. Also the creams become less effective the more they are exposed.
Last, but not least… How To Apply!
YESSSS, there is a special way to apply eye cream. No need to change up your entire moisturizing routine, just when it comes to your eyes, be gentle! I usually put the cream on my fingertip and dab it on. MAKE SURE NOT to pull or stretch your eye area!!
Hope this article was able to clear some things up! Remember is you are between the ages of 18-80 it could be a good idea to start applying some eye cream. If you have any questions, DM me on any of my social media accounts OR comment below!
