We’re constantly seeing our favorite celebrities advertising for a new foundation, but how do we know that foundation is the right one for our skin? We all know by now that we have different skin types. No foundation is one size fits all, we need to cater to our skincare needs! That’s why I wanted to show you guys exactly which brands, both high end and drugstore are actually worth the hype for your skin type!

Oily Skin:

If you have an oily skin type, it means your face overproduces oils and moisture, getting especially shiny midday. This can be extremely frustrating when it comes to foundation hunting. You don’t want your makeup melting off a hour or two after putting it on!

That’s why I love using Nars Sheer Matte Foundation, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, and Clinique Pore Refining Solutions on my clients, to keep their face the right amount of dew and matte all red carpet night long! I also love these Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets to help maintain any kind of oil that hits during the day.

Combination Skin:

You guessed it, your skin has both characteristics of oily and dry. This mainly means you have some dry patching on your skin (like your cheeks and eye area), but get oily around your T-zone (such as your forehead, down your nose and chin). Another way to tell if you have combination skin, is if your skin changes according to the season. During Summer it can get extremely oily, while during the colder months of Fall and Winter, it can be dry, peeling and sometimes burn.

I love using Makeup Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover StickRevlon Colorstay, and Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick, to help with both oil control and maintaining moisture for the dry areas.

Dry Skin:

You skin tends to feel rough and tight, regardless of how much moisturizer or primer you slather on before your foundation! Dry skin can cause redness, patches, flaking and/or eczema.

To combat the dryness of your skin, try Dior Star Fluid Foundation, Laura Mercier Moisture Supreme, and Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation.
